One of my earliest tapes, and first JGB tape, had an amazing Lonesome and a Long Way on it. The tape was labeled Lisner Aud NJ 1978. This Lonesome contains one of the most amazing Jerry solos EVER. It's not spacy-jammy like the one from the Warner Theater, it just builds and builds and builds to an amazing flurry of fanning. If my memory serves, it is an audience tape of so-so quality, and as the last notes fade, this Jersey head very close to the mike says (loudly) "End of show!"
I loved this tape and played it for many non-believers (and also pre-77-only types), with nearly unanimous responses of awe. Sadly, this tape is long gone from my collection. Does anyone know of this show, or better yet, know of a copy?. I don't have any GD to trade (that you don't already have or isn't easy to find), but I do have some other live recordings that may be of interest that I could burn and send out.
This Lonesome is off the hook and needs to be heard to be believed. One of Jer's finest moments.

This may actually be 4/3/76. There's a torrent that's part of the "JGB 1976" project on Lossless Legs, but I don't think it's currently seeded. You can also stream it from:

This is it! Streaming now. Many thanks--I've been jonesing to hear this Lonesome for awhile now. Ahhhh...

Funny how those early tapes were labeled. This was in the first batch of tapes I ever got. Always loved it, regardless of quality (or lack thereof--many gens). This is the same source, but so much nicer. Again, thanks for the tip.

Just realized, this is PRE 77. That explains it all--it's the real Jer--not some Wilford wannabe!

Hey Will--you should check out that Lonesome. It ain't The Eleven, but it's pretty hot stuff anyhow.

Thanks for thinking of me; believe it or not, but I just got 10 disks worth of stuff from Ashes, all of it JGB and Hunter, so I will listen intently for your recommendation. If it weren't for him, I would have never gotten my hands on it...

Yes--it was very cool. I thought it was just a shot in the dark. I didn't have the right venue, or even year(!)--and I was listening within 10 minutes of posting This forum is an incredible resource. (When the "shit" isn't flying too furiously!)

Thanks again kschnied! You rock!
